CAMPING
Due to the spacious grounds at Cherokee Farms, everyone should have plenty of space to car camp. Once on the property, you will be directed to the main campground area, camping areas are dictated by arrival times. We will open up new camping areas as space dictates. Like last year, we have a designated family/quiet camping area for those interested. Each campground will have plenty of port-o-lets, in addition to a washing station and trash dump. You will be required to park and set-up camp in an organized manner, directed by the parking staff.
TRASH / CLEAN-UP
Each car entering the festival will be given one large trash bag for your campsite. Additional trash bags will be available free of charge at the general store throughout the weekend, if needed. Each campground will also have one designated “trash dump,” if you fill your bag, please place it in the dump. Your extra effort in doing so helps us to keep our staffing costs down and aids in the clean-up and removal of garbage from the festival site. Trash barrels and cigarette-butt “buckets” will also be spaced throughout the grounds, so please take the time to dispose of trash properly. This audience has done an extremely good job in the past, and we ask that you please continue that tradition.
ONSITE RESOURCES
We will have limited vending this year, including three food vendors (BBQ, seafood, and Mexican)
ATM machines will also be onsite if you find you need more cash to make it through the weekend.
The Perpetual Groove General Store will be selling event merchandise in addition to ice, water, and coffee.
Showers are available onsite, as are port-o-lets and washing stations.
There is also a small pond on the property. However, due the lack of rain, the water level is lower then normal. You can swim in the pond, but you do so at your own risk. There is no lifeguard on duty and no swimming after dusk.
RULES / GUIDELINES
NO re-entry, NO NITROUS, NO glass bottles, NO campfires, NO weapons, NO fireworks, NO illicit substances, NO kegs, NO pets, NO swimming after dusk, NO unauthorized vending, NO video
NO motorized vehicles
Several areas of the property are marked off with caution tape. Please do not remove it, and please do not proceed beyond the marked barriers. These areas are off limits to the festival attendees and are considered to be private property. Please respect the spirit wheel, the circle rock formation is not a playground, it’s a not a fire pit, and we ask that you please respect its place on the property
If you are found to be in violation of any of the above rules, we reserve the right to immediately eject you from the event. These rules and guidelines are in place for your benefit and the safety of others attending this year’s Amberland festivities.
SECURITY / MEDICAL / VOLUNTEERS
We will have a medical station onsite, located in the immediate vicinity of the General Store. If you need any medical treatment, please seek help right away. If you cannot personally travel to the medical tent, please flag down an official volunteer from the work exchange team or someone with a radio and we will provide transportation for you. Our security and volunteer team is onsite to make sure that everyone has a safe, incident-free experience this weekend. Please respect their efforts!
AMBERLAND GROUP PHOTO
Immediately following the first set of music on Sunday, we would like to take a group photo of all those in attendance. We respectfully ask that you please stick around for approximately 10-15 minutes and make your way up the side of the hill that faces the stage. We’ll take a short series of photos, and then resume our normal activities.
AMBERNET
For the second year in a row, Matt Dolian will be setting up and operating the AmberNET. This wireless network will allow you to download over 200 Perpetual Groove concerts, including a few that are not available anywhere else! This service is compatible with both PC and Apple Computers. We will have FTP access as well as an iTunes server available, depending on which you choose. The AmberNET signal will be the strongest in the general store/vending area, and we will have a table set-up with electricity, so you can power your laptop. If you have any further questions in regards to AmberNET, please visit the Amberland Forum on Talking in Place.
WORDS OF ADVICE
If you have attended Amberland in the past, then you have no doubt heard the statement, “It’s a marathon, not a sprint,” so please act and plan accordingly. We expect the temperature to be in the mid-80’s throughout the weekend, with it dropping into the mid-50’s at night. The most important thing to remember is to stay hydrated. Drinks lots of water throughout the weekend, nothing will combat the exposure to the elements better then good old H20. And don’t forget to eat! Your body needs fuel for the weekend, so don’t deprive it! And lastly, give yourself a chance to rest and catch some Zzzzz’s, you’ll have a better time if you give yourself the opportunity to rest up.
We’ll do our best to keep you safe, comfortable, and happy while attending Amberland. But please bear in mind, it’s up to YOU to arrive safe, comfortable, and happy. Before you leave, make sure your license, insurance, and plates are all up-to-date. Got a broken tail light? Get a new bulb. Drive the speed limit, keep all of your alcohol in the trunk, and make good decisions.
