My thoughts on the Halloween Show

Let me first say that I think PGroove played a great show last night.  The NIN songs, and the Killing In the Name of were awesome. My highlight was definitely the triple combo of Lost Connection, Two Shores, and A Day The Way in the second set.  Hell the whole second set and encore was unreal.

But to come out to have a good time and watch images of the twin towers where over 2,000…closer to 3,000 people lost there lives was not what I was trying to do.

I understand the whole inside man, George W, and 911 theme.  I just thought that it was in very poor taste.  I came out to have a good time and listen to the music and was completely distracted by the TV Screen. If I wanted to watch that I could have stayed at home.

Anyway that’s my 2 cents.

I’m not particularly fond of politics from the stage myself (pefer Bob Dylan’s approach). That said, I would’ve given various left appendages of my body to have been there last night.

granted i wasnt there so i cant comment as to the total impression/shock value of this…..and im not particularly into political issues and discussions….........but that being said i happen to find interest in polically charged concerts due to the basic added intellectual stimulation…...there is almost a tangible air one can feel in such an enviroment and i kind of enjoy such….....now of course there are limitations to the things that i will find socially acceptable and topics that i find either boring or out of place…....but as long as it doesnt take away from the music, i think it is an entertaining and stimulating addition to the concert experience

36, many factors to consider

the politics were discussed much amongst the masses during and after the show - I can see how some people wouldn’t like it, but it was artistic IMO - guys on stage are obviously passionate about something and they have an opportunity to tell a lot of people how they feel in a pretty appropriate way

maybe it was their way to Express Themselves…

I did not feel it was overly political. Although, I was far enough back from the stage to not really be able to see the tvs. I will say I am not fond of politics coming from the stage at a show, but I felt this was easy to tune out if you did not care for it. The music was pretty great.  The boys really did work hard on the production.

War is Hell , lest not we forget about it and it’s consequences . To not be aware of those who are sacrificing their lives in an unjust attack on Iraq having nothing to do with the 9-11 crisis is SPOOKY . I think the backdrop was appropriate to where we find ourselves as Americans on the Eve of what our beloved president has been threatening the possibility of World War III.  I don ‘t intend to be an Ostrich . Those who do scare me ! Halloween , how Appropriate !

These guys were all in the millitary ? I grew up in the millitary , we should remember the fallen and find out the truth of why they fell . Maybe we can’t handle the truth ! Bad taste is forgetting !

So did this go along with the theory that 911 was an inside job by Bush and the rest of his regime?  If so give it a rest.  The last Seepeoples show really turned me off towards the end when they showed nuclear attacks.  I’m with folks who don’t want politics mixed in with their good time.  I feel very passionate about whats going on but I don’t go to party and start dropping conspiracy theories I go to meet girls and have a good time.  I think anybody who watches the news or looks at the newspaper is gagged with all the news about the war everyday and concerts, movies, and other entertainment is where I go to get away from the real world.  Probably wouldn’t have been a happy camper at this show.

The Setlist looks hot though

Speaking purely from my own point of view, I would like to think that the theme of this show was more about being conscious then politics or conspiracy theories. Considering the amount of behind the scenes work the band does (Headcount, Rock the Earth, Environmentalism) not once have they ever used the stage to preach their own personal agendas or political ideals, but instead have used their ACTIONS as a group to speak to the greater masses. My two cents….

I am almost never a fan of politics at shows - that said - I felt it was much more of a social commentary - the evolution of TV.. coupled with the evolution of toys - made a stark contrast to endless barage of tragedy as displayed by “modern” news stations.. that combined with the sound bites - I felt made a compelling statement about “who” and “where” we are as a nation and people. I thought they did a great job - and certainly Halloween could not have been a more fitting backdrop. My .02cents as someone who was there.

I was hoping to see some killer Huffer lights, so the TVs kind of killed it for me. However, I thought it was cool that Albert turned the TVs off for imagine. Last years show was defiantly better.

This was nowhere near what seepeoples do. I will not go to seepeoples shows anymore. I cannot stand it. I did not feel anything PG did was too in your face. The blurbs in between songs were brief and the tv screens were not a projection screen so if you were further back it was difficult to see them (I am only 5ft 3).  The lights were killer and the band was on fire. If you close your eyes and focus on the music you will not notice anything else.

Now things are better cause I don't have to wonder

so far back i couldn’t see the TVs and couldn’t understand the voices betwen the songs, but musically it was all there.

I did notice the president on one of them one time, and said to my girlfriend damn I hope they don’t go all Franti on us.
Franti sucks.

I wasn’t particularly turned on or off by the tvs and whatnot—it was a fantastic performance, tho, very theatrical. The sound was awesome: my witch hat straight vibrated off my head a couple times. I thought the TVs were neat and something extraspecial for H’ween-You could absolutely tell how much thought was put into each image on the screens, and I definitely appreciated that they all related in some way and that the setlist complimented it well.
My 2 cents: They rocked it and gave me mental stimulation at the same time….i’m totally down with stimulation.

btw, matt, it’s super hot when you play the guitar. red face  cool hmm

When I was in the back of the theatre I couldn’t see much b/c I have pink eye and can’t wear my contacts (lost my glasses at Echo-don’t ask).  At one point last night I questioned what the theme was, but then thought “who cares?” and just listened to the music.  During the second set, I was up front dancing and all I cared about was the music and watching “my boys” play.  I had fun!

Looking forward to Saturday, Brock!

So did this go along with the theory that 911 was an inside job by Bush and the rest of his regime?

There was no agenda and that is NOT what the show was about.  If you weren’t there you shouldn’t jump to such judgments.  It was supposed to show us the real world horror on the daily dose of news and how desensitized we all are to this horror on our TV’s in the safety of our homes.  It was art to promote thought, no agenda.  How TV has numbed the American public to violence, and is used as a tool for distraction.  I’m more interested in hearing from people that were actually there instead of someone who just jumps to opinions about things they didn’t even experience first hand.

Just once in a while let us exalt the importance of ideas and information.

I hate I missed this.

I’m with you on this Matt. Art is a statement, might as well be about a subject about which you feel strongly. I recall the 60’s and people making statements changed things.

See ya tonight.

HELL no!

Sure wish I could have been there (instead of Las Vegas)

I agree with Festafarian, in that you can’t be an ostrich and stick your head in the sand and hope that Bush
and his policies will just go away by themselves.

The “establishment” has many avenues they can use to get their message across (FAUX news is a prime
example) - I think it’s extremely important to add our voices to the discussion and point out some of the
things that are terribly wrong in our society and then DO something about it.

Like Lord Nikon said, I also remember the 60’s and how people got involved and changed things for the
better - we got rid of Nixon, now we need to get rid of Bush.

I know, there is a time and a place for everything, including politics, but I would have really loved it!

Keep it up and like Dylan Thomas once said:

“Rage, rage against the dying of the light.”

maybe it is because i havent gotten into politics quite yet, so i was not for or against the messages and expressions they were creating, but i really saw it as some artistically moving creations. the sound bites/ tv clips were all right on cue with the music, whether it be moving and uplifting or dark. everything just flowed so well. this was one of my favorite shows ive yet to see. they played so so well.

yea a military draft would change that, lol. I was 16 when they ended the draft. Lots of my friends where sweating it out and some went to war, some to Canada, but all had an opinion!

Karl Marx observed that the lower classes never revolt, it is the middle class that does. As long as we’re not too inconvenienced, we won’t complain too loudly. Sorry about the huge debt. The Babyboomers will ruin it for you. We’re just that way, it’s our nature I’m afraid.

$2,500,000,000,000 is what the GAO estimates this war will cost. Even skipping the morality of it all, that’s a lot of money. Hope the Iraqi’s are grateful.

Sorry if I upset anybody with my post I was just reacting to what I read in the first.  I’m sure no malice was intended and it was a great show as always.
