Do you think the band would co-headline a tour? I would think that it would be good exposure among fans of certain music that wouldn’t normally go to a show…. And if they did, who would they most likely do it with? I would love to know what the band actually thinks about this and who they would love to collaborate with- in theory.

Goodness a tour with moe launch the groove to a whole new level. The band has obviously been gaining a huge following in the south east, but this would put the guys on the national level. It would be crazy

obviously moe would be serious. business. ha. I was honestly thinking something more classic rock… possibly black crowes, maybe a run with derek trucks… killer, but maybe not a match, would be queens of the stone age.

could be wrong, but haven’t they already done that with both Ulu and MsS? it’s been a while, but…

Bela Fleck rocked the HORDE tour at least twice before DMB had even released Remember Two Things…certainly hanging with Dave later launched them even further, but…

my morning jacket, the flaming lips, or wilco
any of those three would be awesome,
plus it would be cool to see PG bouncing around the amphitheater circuit

if pgroove co-headlined, I’d like it to be someone I’ve never heard of, versus someone already established touring bigger venues
I loved getting blown away by SeePeopleS in Philly and having them all do Bittersweet Symphony at the end, heavy on the keys

i hadn’t thought about MMJ, but now that you mention it that would be awesome. Brock would definitely rip up some of their songs on collaborations and MMJ could easily weave their way into a PGroove song. and wasn’t MMJ living in Athens this summer? so its possible that the 2 bands could know each other.

Great thread. I’ve always wanted jambands to double bill. Jambands(ie, Phish) use to play hour and a halff sets. Now, it’s hour set followed by a long set break, which kills the vibe, and then maybe another hour set. I say, double bill, give each band 2 hours. Start the show at 8, set change at 10, other band from 10:30 - 12:30, maybe 1:00 with encores. The way the market is these days, it would help slow ticket sales, IMO. Just as long as they don’t do another tour with the Big Nah.

great thread….
I would like to see something of the sort, Moe. and PG. I think that it would do buttloads of good things PG. I can understand the desire to do it “your way” and continue to tour relentlessly by yourself, but I really do think that PG is on the cusp of breaking it. Co headline tours can do big things as long as one band has “broke”. The co headline tours with Ulu and MsS probably did little to nothing considering that both bands are not that widely known. Not everybody knew about Ulu at the time and not too many people outside of the southeast knew who MsS was.
Moe. fans would lap it up as would both bands IMO. They know eachother and have collaborated more than once. I think that it would be good production wise too…the tour would encompass bigger stages which means more production. Granted, sets would be a bit shorter but in the long run I think that it would do a whole heck of a lot.
I know that I will be the first to grumble at a short set, but the outcome would be bigger and better for the band IMO.

RandALL - 27 September 2007 05:12 AM nobody likes getting over shadowed
besides that what festivals are for
I def see your point about being overshadowed…. but man p. groove is a solid band that can hold their own. I think that festivals do some dis-service. As much fun as they are, they don’t really showcase a bands true uh… mindblowing-ness…. in a 45-60 minute slot, especially if it is during a hot day with smaller turn out than a night slot.

Certainly weren’t overshadowed at DUMB. Wish they could have played outside to the larger crowd.
Exposure at the festivals is good though.

You’re right RandALL…it would be tough for any band the guys toured with to get blown out of the water.
I, as well, like this thread, and the idea.
I DO like the idea of a band the likes of moe., Umphrey’s McGee, or The Disco Biscuits…a good fit for a tour with PG…..
I also like the direction Eric is going in with My Morning Jacket, Secret Machines, Band of Horses, Explosions In The Sky, SeePeoples, etc…..

I think PG has a big enough sound along with the unique performance appeal that it takes to move into a space thats currently much more vibrant than the post phish jam scene.
In my estimation Dan, your correct, Explosions in the sky or something like that would be a nice fit. However, IMO, i believe that The Ghostland Observatory would be better. Ghostland is the only band i’ve seen in the past few years that has a full live package, both sound and lights, comparable to PG.
Radiohead would be cool too, but i purposely didnt list that in my first post because that would never happen..

I just read through this thread again and realized that you meant pgroove would overshadow another band… gotcha now. sorry to confuse your words. You are very right.
