Nice! I’m so glad it isn’t at the Orange Peel. That venue is the worst

We’re there!!! this pretty much means no NYE for Liz and I, add us to that ever growing list, but our first week in our new home in Asheville this will sure be worth it. Hopefully they can fine a good local band to open up for them and get the crowd out early smile

as much as i’d like to be at mcdoogals first shows back, i like that they’ll have a nice warmup before we see them on the boat.

i’ve only been to the orange peel once, but i was not a fan of the venue at all.  nazi security, no balcony, and no liquor?  i’ll be curious to hear about this music hall.

i agree.  only been there a handful of times, and i have had some great times there, no doubt.  The venue’s nice, aesthetically speaking, but yeah, the fact that there’s no liquor coupled with nazi security gives the OP a very mediocre rating, in my book

also curious to hear about the Asheville Music Hall.  According to their website, their grand opening was at Moogfest about a month ago

orange peel is a really cool venue. the big ass fan is awesome and the decor is pretty dope too. no liquor is a major bummer as well as the security being total dicks. also, while the wood floor is beautiful and its kinda cool when you can feel it bounce with the crowd, i can remember it getting extremely slippery when someone would spill a drink on it. oh, and it cant handle huffer’s hazer.

Since they were added late and are before what should be a legendary Jam Cruise we went with a smaller, more intimate venue.

Plus this Matty guy, whoever he is, has to be broken in.  The dude’s a noob.

Not a fan of the Peel…sound-wise, it stinks. It’s also a real chatty venue. I think more people go there to go to the Peel than to listen to the band.

Can even begin to tell you how many times I have walked out of a show disappointed with the sound (other than Explosions in The Sky)

AMH is a great venue, with a great sound system. It’s slightly bigger than what Stella was and much nicer IMO.

Plus, for a two night run, having it be in a smaller venue will be much better. As much as I love the guys, I highly doubt that they could do a two night run there (Peel) with more than 400 per night.

Asheville Music Hall is NOT Stella Blue.  The only thing that AMH and Stella Blue have in common is that AMH is where Stella Blue USED to be.  Completely different owners, completely dug out new room.  And much better.

See yall in January!

I work at Asheville Music Hall and just wanted to make a quick post to say that you absolutely have NOT been to Asheville Music Hall if you’ve previously been to Stella Blue.  Completely different room, absolutely no association w/Stella Blue whatsoever, simply in the same building.  Brand new everything, amazing sound system, beautiful bar and parquet floor, full service Deli just downstairs for late night munchies, full liquor bar.  Thanks Meghan and Space Paranoid for letting people know.

This two night stand is going to be awesome.
