what does it take to get a jambase mention of the tour/halloween/nye announcement cause ild say thats worthy of national exposure.

also, what does it take to get new songs/recordings on sirius satellite radio and in heavier rotation cause that can help continue that success of recent shows’ ticket sales.

just sayin now is a great time to spend some $$ and effort on marketing.

Unfortunately, we do not have control have over the content published on either of those outlets. Each press release is sent to JamBase as well as numerous other music related web outposts. Sirius / XM has gotten advance copies of all official Perpetual Groove releases. You can help by REQUESTING Perpetual Groove on XM / Sirius, and for that we have included the handy little button on the social networking bar on the main page of the .com - thanks for your support!

since it is so freakin hot and few people want to play tennis, I will have plenty of time to request Pgroove on Sirius. Hell I am paying 14.95 a month for that stuff.

I’m paying for the sports that I miss driving around the country, but JamOn and and the Grateful Dead channel were a nice added bonus.  Reception was a little fuzzy on the Blue Ridge Parkway yesterday (climbed Mt Pisgah) with all those overhanging trees and tunnels…can’t really complain when you are driving on the Parkway though.  After 223 PGroove shows, I must admit when I’m driving around the country (chasing PG or otherwise) I usually don’t listen to much PG because I see them so much.  So the fact they don’t get much airplay on there in a way fits my traveling music habits, but damn would I rather hear a smoking live rendition of anything by PG than DMB’s Jimi Thing twice an hour!!  (This is when I switch to the Dead channel or my Ipod)  Really the number of repeats I end up hearing on there is disappointing given the amount of good music that has been made in the past and is still being made in the present.

agreed.  even on the comedy channels, many reruns.  makes for a good opportunity to check out the other channels I suppose.  Thanks Ben for the request button, I’m on it!

seriously (no pun intended)....the repeats are rediculous….between DMB, Moe, tea leaf green, derek trucks, and the radiators you would think thats all that is out there…..........because i listen to a bunch of music at work and at home, my work commute (45mins-1hour) is usually all sirius…mostly jam on but ill hit the stations north and south of it as well as the bluegrass channel (which btw is really awesome if you like bluegrass)

anyways, i send requests in from time to time but unless there was a major influx (and i mean MAJOR) of requests for a band by listeners, the most effective way to get air time for any act is through the persistence of that act’s management…..now im not going to pretend that i know exactly what Perpetual Groove Inc.‘s every move is or what their business plan may be, but i can speak as to the efficacy of those actions and they are: sparsely (at best) played, 5 year old recordings on jam on…and a 47 date tour announcement including 2 major concert holidays (Halloween, NYE) that havn’t been covered on what is argued as the nations premier jam scene information site.

those that are currently listed under the “Newswire” scrolling section on Jambase’s Home Page as having tour announcements:
Atmosphere: Fall Tour
Jónsi : North American Tour
Blue Giant: Tour Dates & Album
Gorillaz World Tour
Karnivool: North American Tour

Stockholm Syndrome: September Tour Dates
Rodrigo y Gabriela: Tour Dates New Video for “Hanuman”

whatever…this post is nothing but love for this band and its friends and family…the point is that without people asking questions and encouraging those in positions of potency, we are all to rely on the sole ambitions of those that run it….and we want more than that and i think everyone in the organization does too.

the trick to sirius (while driving) is to set all your presets and jump from channel to channel
i usually hover around jam_on, xmu, grateful dead, lithium, deep tracks, bluegrass, sirius/ xm chill, alt nation and the spectrum
it helps cut down on the frustration from all the repeats

but as for pgroove, i usually request them every now and then just to make sure sirius keeps hearing a desire for them
guess ill do it a little more regularly

it works out great in that each night at 9 is Phish hour and that’s when I drive to work.  The ride home is jam on or right now Amberland ‘10.  Phish hour used to infuriate me—the dude is absolutely OBSESSED with mid-90’s Phish, so that’s what he plays.  But recently, finally, this year’s tour has been getting played, along with Indio CA and some other more recent stuff.

I nanny a 4 year old and play xm most of the time I’m at the house with her. I’m lucky that she’ll listen to anything with me and I play Jam on pretty consistantly (along with RadioMargaritaville…it has its good moments) and I’ve heard Pgroove played once. What song? 3 Weeks. I love this song and I will always love it, but there could def be more. I’m going to hit the request button on the website; thanks for the heads up on that one. Our boys deserve the best!

the repeat situation is terrible on jam on. i find they’ll cycle through the same bands and same song ad naseum,

the only pgroove song i’ve heard on their is three weeks.

exactly.  i can’t imagine paying for it.  with all the great live and recorded music being made within the ‘genre’, it’s a freaking travesty to repeat anything more than once a day.

I’ve heard Speed Queen and Three Weeks. Also, I’ve sent numerous e-mails to the JamOn station, and I’ve never once heard back from them.

dont forget when Stef Scamardo is the DJ….all you hear is Mule, Panic, Warren Haynes and his sit ins.
The worst days are clearly the days after a show (of his) and she sounds like she’s been up all night and had spent hrs with a straw up her nose.

I turned off XM years ago after they dropped channel 51 “XM music Lab” from satellite broadcast.  The Music Lab was mostly jam bands and progressive rock and by listening to Rush, Dream Theater, and Yes on the station, I was exposed to PGroove, Lotus, Tea Leaf Green, Ozric Tentacles, and all kinds of other cool bands that I had known nothing about.

I’m curious about the xmu that you mention.  Is it a jam/prog kinda thing or is it wider stuff aimed at college aged folks?  What channel # is it so I can tune it in the next time I go somewhere with a subscriber?

XMU is a really good station. Its definitely not jam bands at all. Its aimed at the college aged crowd. Off the top of my head they play The Decemberists, Flaming Lips, Broken Bells, Yeasayer, Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Animal Collective, MGMT, Grizzly Bear, etc… and the channel number is either 43 or 44 on XM I think.

Yeah I have had my bouts with her once or twice.  When we were running Templeball, we did some work for Mule and let’s just say that no matter how pristine the recordings were, or how much we bent over for her…she was never happy.

In regards to Jam On, quite possibly the most over-rated channel on there. The Phish hour is ok at best…especially because most of the material is played during the day.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard DWD during the day and then get the same one during that hour.  He used to play some real gems from 94-97 (my favorite years) but since he started playing sets that I already listen to, I jsut stopped listening. I can hear better quality stuff in my iTunes.

I think that the only way to get more PG played is not only to request it, but send in those emails. He may not respond, but they (most likely interns) sure as shit read ‘em.

If Jam On was a cd I would have thrown it out the window a long time ago! Deep tracks is where it is at. I haven’t heard any Pgroove played for a very long time.

I swear to GOD,  Stef Scamardo sounds exactly like a GUY!!!!!!!
and the repeats on XM is why I dropped it.  I could get in the car one week later on a saturday and they are playing the exact same playlist..  fuck that.

I play Pgroove all the time on NPR in chattanooga..  especially my jamshow..  Moontime Radio show..  saturday nights from 9-10pm..

this saturday I have Speed Queen on the playlist.    http://www.wutc.org
