I really like it so far.

I’d like to hear a version with a little more speed in the beginning, but I think I might be nit-picking a little much.

Zapata has a really fun & funky beginning - didn’t know what it was last night when I heard it, but it was very enjoyable, to say the least

thanks everybody

this was actually the first tune I wrote from scratch for the band. the rest of my tunes (screen, temperance, overt, drink then fill) have all come from GUEST or my solo stuff.

I wanted a song that had parts that suited each individual of the band. i am really happy with how this tune is shaping up.

I left the end of the song open for interpretation, and all of us contributed to the end ‘jam section’.

gracias smile

That’s some really cool insight.  Thanks Hruby. It sounds good from the recordings I’ve heard, and I can’t wait to hear it live!

i am digging the ending. because of this thread, i finally decided to listen to the song in it’s entirety. the end sord of made the song come together for me. i still dont know if i like the verse structure part and intro, but hearing the beautiful jam go into the chorus made the melodies make sense for me. maybe the rest will catch on.

There’s another verse coming but as of now here are the lyrics:

ZAPATA

You can’t always use all of your mind
It’s missing in action half the time
Call me up and talk me down
A calming voice that puts my feet back on the ground

I can’t speak, I can’t find the words
It’s just another rant, you probably don’t deserve
I’m picking up pieces of broken speech
When put together provide relief
For someone, I never believed I’d be

Sounds like some of the nights I’ve had! I’ve been known to speak in sentence fragments myself on occasion. tongue wink
