Amberland - Cherokee Farms 5/23/2009
I’m pretty sure this was the song playing when I first put on my headphones at Amberland. It’s been stuck in my brain ever since, and although I haven’t listened to it in a minute, I was thinking of it this morning. The lastest version sounds really strong and emotional. I love PG’s uplifting music that makes you realize where you’ve been and recognize where you are, whether it be the words or the way the chords meet up and send you off into deep thought.
Is it asking too much for lyrics so that we can latch on a little more?? Please Please Please?
What are your thoughts on “Up Again” ?
What do you suppose it is about??
What is your favorite thing about it?
Do you remember it at Amberland?
(((((((now listen & reminisce))))))))

Might be my favorite PG song that’s currently in rotation since Veil appears to have been shelved full band and hasn’t been played since Oct 2007

to me, this is some of Brock’s most straight forward lyrics.. especially the first verse.

I’m glad somebody made this thread, because I have been thinking the same things. I especially like the classic center version. What Brock says at the end of the song fit perfectly: “Needless to say, I’m glad we found a way to play some music.”

Can’t wait to hear this on the new album.

I love Brock’s guitar parts in this song, especially the little riff before and after the verses. It’s a very, very tight competition between this and Honeycutt for my favorite of the new tunes.
I support this thread.

Alright, I took a shot at getting down the lyrics. I’m 95% sure the verses are right, with the exception of the two/three words I can’t make out in the second verse. Had a little bit of trouble hearing the chorus, so it may be a little off. Feel free to correct it or say if you hear something differently.
——————————————————————————————————————————-
Can’t imagine how lonely
Even paradise would be
If there was not the mercy
For everyone I’d like to see
This line of thinking has me
Sitting wide awake again
The last time I truly rested
Lord, I can’t remember when
Feel, fall, drop inside a musing
Different existence, everybody means (needs?)
Feel it’s your call to prop me up until then
The sting burns long when you’re not here to help me heal
So many things for which we’re ready
Dreams are just simple plans to do
But it all looks to be kept waiting
Waiting on the pay to come through
Patience is hard with all this hating
With so many ___________ to do
Call it thin ice on which we’re skating
I guess I preferred not to
Feel, fall, drop inside a musing
Different existence, everybody means (needs?)
Feel it’s your call to prop me up until then
The sting burns long when you’re not here to help me heal
Even under the weight that is now
I still believe in calm somehow
Back to then, here to now
Still I feel I’m wondering ‘round

“The sting burns long if your not here to help me heal” I think instead of “Escape for as long…”. I don’t know about the beginning of the chorus.

You would be correct. Guess I didn’t listen close enough.

thanks Paul for listening over & over to get these lyrics, much appreciated!! ***Can You Imagine what the studio version will sound like? So crisp & clear!!
sound: very strong introduction (sounds of someone conquering their battles)
in between, i love the keys and light drums, good steady bassline, light pondering
the chorus is so catchy to my ear, and with the ending spill, it makes me want to cringe in glory
i love the way it throws you against the wall and then picks you back up and sends you on your way
this would be a good song for some dramatic interpretation
(Hey G’Mornin’ Y’all!)

this should do it
Can’t imagine how lonely
Even paradise would be
If there was not the mercy
For everyone I’d like to see
This line of thinking has me
Sitting wide awake again
The last time I truly rested
Lord, I can’t remember when

Kneel at your call to prop me up until then
The sting burns long when you’re not here to help me heal
So many things for which we’re ready
Dreams are just simple plans to do
But it all looks to be kept waiting
Waiting on the pay to come through
Patience is hard with all this hating
Which so many seem predisposed to do
Call it thin ice on which we’re skating
I guess I prefer not to
Feel, fall, drop inside illusion
A different existence everybody needs
Kneel at your call to prop me up until then
The sting burns long when you’re not here to help me heal
Even under the weight that is now
I still believe in calm somehow
Back to then, here to now
Still I feel I’m wandering ‘round

All good except
“Feel, fall, drop inside illusion
A different existence everybody needs
kneel at your call to prop me up until then
the sting burns long when your not here to help me heal.”
